Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland found themselves without power on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems impacted the region, producing wind gusts reaching 109km/h.

Large Ice Stones and Extensive Destruction

Homeowners observed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties

Meteorological Predictions

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coast.

Tuesday was expected to become the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential anticipated across multiple regions of both states.

Health Warning

Health officials alerted that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, especially given the ongoing climate situation.

This caution comes after historical occurrences where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
