“It was regrettable. That was kind of an interaction with our fans out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was brimming with excitement for the Cowboys.”
Jones additionally clarified that the signal was completely accidental, occurring amid the elation following the team’s last score. “I simply showed the wrong digit,” he noted. “It was accidentally performed. I’m not kidding. Should you call it accidental, you can. But it got corrected rapidly.”
